Screenshot API

This feature is not built yet. Website screenshots and OG images on demand are on our roadmap — but the capture engine doesn't exist today. The API currently returns "not available yet", it isn't included in any plan, and you can't buy it today.

Everything below describes what we intend to build, not what exists. We've left it up so you can see where we're heading — nothing on this page is something you're paying for.

What we plan to build

None of the following exists yet. This is the roadmap for the screenshot API, not a feature list you can use.

Multiple Resolutions

Planned: desktop, tablet, and mobile viewports, so you can capture how a site looks on any device.

PNG, JPEG, WebP

Planned: pick the format that fits your use case — PNG for quality, JPEG for size, WebP for modern browsers.

Retina Support

Planned: 2x device scale for crisp screenshots suitable for presentations and print.

Instant Download

Planned: captures available to download straight away, with no background processing queue.

How it will work

Once it's built. It isn't yet.

1

Enter URL

You'll provide the website URL and choose your viewport size, format, and scale.

2

We Render

A headless browser will load the page, wait for JS to execute, and capture the viewport. This backend does not exist yet.

3

Download

You'll view the screenshot in your gallery and download or share it.

Frequently asked

Can I use the screenshot API today?

No. The capture endpoint is a stub — it returns "Screenshot API is not available yet". There is no working capture engine behind it. It is not part of the Free, Pro or Agency plans, it cannot be purchased, and you are not paying for it on any plan.

How many screenshots do I get on my plan?

None — on any plan. Screenshots have no quota because the feature doesn't exist. We'll publish plan limits when we actually ship it.

When will it be ready?

We're not going to give you a date we can't stand behind. It's on the roadmap, and this page will change the moment it works. In the meantime, the features you can use today are the single-URL SEO audit, uptime checks and status pages, webhook relay, and licence keys.

Not available yet

There's nothing to sign up for here — the screenshot API isn't built. Have a look at what SiteSmith actually does today instead.
